Originally we set out a plan for filming. We would film all of our stuff by the Monday (20th) so we had the three days to edit our peice. This seemed like a good idea. We had overflow time to do some forgotten shots and we would hit the deadline dead on if not early. We neglected to take in the account that filming for a whole day is very tiring, especially when you are rushing round Newcastle on a match day with a crane which weighs a ton! it also doesn't help when you have to scurry around Whitley Bay giving lifts to people in hopes of them lending you their camera battery.
It was a lot of hard work, but with valid results!
We managed to create footage for ALL the frames we had no footage for (bar three) which allows us to put it all together to make a full music video (bar 3 shots).
We are very impressed with our persistence and effort, we now all have red back from vigorous self-back-patting.
The overall performance of the actors was great… for now. If we do have any little queries by the end of the full project we will bring it up with them, but for now they did great!
First off, filming in houses work well. We have striking lighting and various camera angles. We managed to film in 3 houses that day, ross’s (main actor), Victoria’s (main actress) and Melville’s (the other guy in the group). We also have some selective shots from outside looking into the home and we had to film at Melville’s local bus stop which is twelve metres down the road.
We also filmed in town on match day. 1-0, Newcastle over Leicester city (and they needed this win. And Sunderland lost 8-0 on the same day. So fans were rowdy! But they were all still pleasant, pointing at the crane and walking in clear shot (very clear shot). However we found a secluded street with minimal traffic (don’t worry traffic is part of the aesthetic). We also filmed in Leazes park. The local basketball players were fine with the local filming, even when peter was singing directly at them. Also the lighting was great. It started to dwindle by six so only two shots were minorly affected.
Overall the day went great. We have so much to show but that will take some editing time! Look forward to it! 22nd-23rd of October!
P.S. I drove to Victoria's house by 12.15 and I got home for 8.15!
